Assertiveness Behavioral Experiment
Behavioral experiments enable clients to test their beliefs about assertive communication and develop more effective interpersonal behavior.
Assertiveness Behavioral Experiment
We all have beliefs about ourselves and how we think the world works. These beliefs – and the predictions they lead to – can have a big effect on what we think, feel, and do. However, some of our beliefs may not be accurate or helpful.
A good analogy here is how scientists test their beliefs. Scientists try to hold their ideas ‘lightly’ – they treat them as a guess about how the world works (a ‘hypothesis’) rather than a fact. They then test whether these ideas are accurate by setting up experiments.
This Behavioral Experiment tool will help you set up experiments so you can find out whether your beliefs about asserting yourself are true.
Overview
Assertive communication can be challenging for individuals who hold unhelpful beliefs and assumptions about standing up for themselves. This Assertiveness Behavioral Experiment record is designed to help clients plan, implement, and learn from experiments that test their beliefs about assertive communication.
