Data storage and location

When you create your Psychology Tools account, you are asked to choose a data storage location for your client data.

Available locations include:

  • United Kingdom

  • United States

  • Canada

  • Australia

This determines where your client data is stored.

Choosing a data location

You select your data storage location when you first set up your account.

  • This setting cannot be changed later.
  • It applies to all client data within your account.

If you need to change your data location, the only way to do this is to:

  1. Delete all clients and associated client data.
  2. Close your account.
  3. Create a new account and select a different location.

How client data is stored

Client data is stored within your selected region so that, in the normal course of operation, it does not leave that territory.

This helps you meet local data protection and confidentiality requirements.

In some cases, limited data processing may involve systems outside your chosen region (for example, infrastructure or service providers), but this is managed in line with our data protection practices.

Subprocessors

We work with a number of trusted third-party providers (subprocessors) to operate the platform.
