Access limits

Psychology Tools includes access limits to help ensure fair use of resources across our community. This page explains what those limits are, how they work in practice, and what happens if you reach them.

What are access limits?

Access limits set a maximum number of resources that each user can access within a given time period. A resource is counted as “accessed” when it is:

  • Opened or viewed

  • Downloaded

  • Sent using the Email a client feature

These limits apply to all standard Psychology Tools resources unless otherwise stated.

What are the current limits?

At present, the following access limits apply to each user:

  • 15 resources per 24-hour period

  • 100 resources per calendar month

These limits reset automatically at the start of each new time period.

How are resources counted?

  • If a resource is available in multiple formats (for example, different languages), accessing more than one format of the same resource only counts as one resource.

  • Some resources are excluded from access limits altogether, including:

  • Resources titled “Translation Template”

  • Resources titled “Free Guide”

What happens if I reach a limit?

If you reach either the daily or monthly access limit:

  • You will temporarily be unable to access additional resources.

  • Access will be restored automatically at the start of the next access period (either the next 24-hour period or the next month, depending on which limit was reached).

You do not need to take any action – access will reset on its own.

Why does Psychology Tools use access limits?

Access limits help us:

  • Prevent misuse and automated downloading

  • Keep the service reliable and fair for all users

  • Continue investing in high-quality, evidence-based resources

If you regularly find that you are reaching access limits, it may be worth reviewing how you organise and reuse resources within your clinical work.
